Consultation on Board Reform Initiative
The Board Reform Initiative proposes the creation of Regional Services Boards that will manage service delivery of health, social services, education and housing programs. This initiative supports the priorities and goals identified for the 16th Legislative Assembly.
The primary objectives of the Board Reform Initiative are:
- improving service delivery by implementing a board structure that encourages greater cooperation, emphasizes improved case management and delivers programs that reflect regional priorities; and
- improving effectiveness and efficiency of boards by simplifying governance structures, identifying clear responsibilities, roles and powers and improving financial, administrative and other systems to improve accountability and reporting.
The Government of the Northwest Territories has released an overview, backgrounder and a series of general questions and answers that describe and clarify the proposed approach. Included in the documents are a series of consultation questions about the proposed approach.
