Corporate Communications
Corporate Communications and Protocol Division provides broad communications advice across government to support the priorities, strategies and initiatives of Cabinet, and leads the development of communications approaches on government-wide initiatives.
The division:
- Promotes an integrated corporate approach to communications;
- Administers the framework of policy and guidelines that direct and guide government communications;
- Supports departmental communications efforts; and
- Communicates the agenda, goals, strategies and initiatives of the GNWT within government and to the public.
- In addition, protocol functions are centralized within the division.
The division produces a number of communications resources, including guidelines and manuals relating to the usage of GNWT logos, official symbols and trademarks. It also produces the GNWT employee newsletter, the Bear Facts.
The Deputy Secretary of Corporate Communications and Protocol assumes the responsibility of Director of Emergency Communications in the event of a declared NWT emergency (as per the NWT Emergency Plan). The position participates in emergency planing and response activities as a member of the NWT's multi-agency Territorial Emergency Response Committee.
