Regional Directors
Executive Regional Director positions have been established in response to the growing need for greater planning and coordination between departments at a regional level and for greater communication between the regions and Headquarters. This need is being driven by the increasing development throughout the Northwest Territories and the changes brought on by the negotiation and implementation of self-government agreements.
Executive Regional Directors and regional senior managers from all GNWT departments work together to coordinate the implementation of interdepartmental initiatives in their region and to ensure government programs and services are provided in a consistent manner in all regions of the Northwest Territories.
Regional Directors also work with key stakeholders to improve communication on strategic initiatives and to ensure that regions have an opportunity to provide input for GNWT plans. As part of the Department of Executive's protocol responsibilities, Regional Directors also help to coordinate and prepare for official visits and other protocol activities in their regions.
